Bowtech Termination and Molding Facility

Bowtech Products Ltd is delighted with the success of its new Subsea Molding Facility in Aberdeen. In a professionally adapted, 2,500-ft2 building on the Kirkhill Industrial Estate, Bowtech has invested in the right people and equipment to supply the right product

on time.  Bowtech Products represents Seacon® Europe for the complete range of underwater electrical and optical connectors, and it was a natural progression to be able to offer the complete cable and connector assemblies here in Aberdeen.

The right people
Manager Stuart Rowley has used his previous experience in both machining and the rubber and plastics industry to set up the facility. One year from its conception, he now has a team of five staff.

The right equipment
The Vertical Machining Centre for mold tool manufacture allows fast turn around, from design to creation of the most complex moulds required in an ever demanding market.

Polyurethane can be molded to almost any substrate or cable jacket material offering systems that are required for many varied shallow and deep water applications. The injected polyurethane molding system produces extremely high quality moulds in comparison to open cast molding systems.

Mold tools are designed in-house using 3D CAD systems to produce technical and assembly drawings to customer requirements.

Capabilities
Bowtech is producing high-quality moldings in-house for all its own products and can also offer swift turnaround on external special orders requiring custom-manufactured moulds.

Expansion
This month, it has also taken delivery of a new £100,000 computer-controlled Lathe to manufacture all its camera, lamp, and strobe housings. Located alongside the Subsea Molding Facility, this will allow Bowtech to better control its production lead times. Improving delivery and quality, thus giving it a leading advantage in supplying cameras, lights and strobes.
