Subview
A new way to look at things
—underwater

By Henry Wijgerse, SUBVIEW

The SUBVIEW system can simultaneously capture, visualize and store submerged activities with four waterproof cameras on a battery powered video system, integrated in a single rugged travel case.
With the integrated battery-unit the system can run stand-alone for hours, which makes it perfectly suitable for use in areas / situations where no direct power is available.

The SUBVIEW system consists of the following main components:

• 15” LCD screen
• 4 waterproof cameras, different depth ranges
• Integrated Digital Video Recorder (DVR)
• Battery powered with status control
• Rugged travel case
• External connectivity by USB / Ethernet

The SUBVIEW system can be used in a wide range of applications and is available as basic system and as rugged system. The basic system can be used for conditioned environments like swimming pools and training facilities, the rugged version can be used for harsh environments like offshore inspections and professional diving.

The differences between the systems are mainly the specifications of the cameras, cabling and internal setup of the SUBVIEW case.

SUBVIEW application areas:

• Maritime inspections, ship’s hull / rudder / propeller
• Observations of maritime life, fish / plants
• Training facilities for professional diving
• Video safety when working in confined spaces
• Multiple (4) angle recording of subsea activities

The free floating BUOY creates a wireless video link between the submerged camera and the video receiver on shore. This option creates a flexible solution for projects were direct cables are not possible between camera and video display. The camera is connected by cable to the buoy and from the buoy the signal is transmitted wireless to the shore. Distances over 1500 can be reached (line-of-sight).
With the internal battery supply and a video transmitter, the buoy can operate for many hours without any assistance, ideal for fixed observation setups under water.
Due to the multiple waterproof connectors the functionality of the buoy can easily extended.

Future options are :

• Wireless AUDIO-link to create one way audio for subsea recording.
• Wireless two-way audio for communication with diver to shore.
• Two-way audio between two divers, good for training and night dives.
• Power supply to provide additional under water light.
• Other applications are possible.
